John: Welcome to 3-Minute Swahili Season 1, Lesson 16 - Asking Directions. In this lesson, you’ll learn how to ask and understand basic directions in Swahili.

John: Here's the way to ask "Where is the station?" in Swahili.
Medina: [Normal] Stesheni iko wapi?
John: First is a word meaning "station."
Medina: [Normal] stesheni [Slow] stesheni
John: Next is the word meaning "is."
Medina: [Normal] iko [Slow] iko
John: Last is the word meaning "where."
Medina: [Normal] wapi [Slow] wapi
John: Note the rising intonation. Listen again to the question meaning "Where is the station?"
Medina: [Slow] Stesheni iko wapi? [Normal] Stesheni iko wapi?
John: Here's the way to say, "Go straight."
Medina: [Normal] Enda wima.
John: First is a word meaning "go."
