James: Must-Know Swahili Social Media Phrases Season 1. Lesson 10 - Feeling Disappointed.
James: Hi everyone, I'm James.
Medina: And I'm Medina.
James: In this lesson, you'll learn how to post and leave comments in Swahili about being disappointed. Amina feels disappointed about today's weather, posts an image of it, and leaves this comment:
Medina: Nilidhani leo jua itachomoza.
James: meaning - "I thought the sun would rise." Listen to a reading of the post and the comments that follow.
DIALOGUE

Amina: Nilidhani leo jua itachomoza.
(clicking sound)
Fatuma: Usijali, bado ni mapema.
Asha: Iwe jua ama baradi, mimi niko sawa.
Amina: Nimefua nguo mingi nikidhani kutakuwa na jua.
Zainabu: Ninauhakika masaa ya mchana kutakuwa na jua.
James: Listen again with the English translation.

James: "I thought the sun would rise."

James: "Be it sunny or cold, I am okay."
Amina: Nimefua nguo mingi nikidhani kutakuwa na jua.
James: "I've worn a lot of clothes hoping it would be sunny."
Zainabu: Ninauhakika masaa ya mchana kutakuwa na jua.
James: "I am sure the sun will be there in the afternoon."

James: All together, "I thought the sun would rise."
Medina: Nilidhani leo jua itachomoza.

James: In response, Amina's friends leave some comments.
James: Her neighbor, Fatuma, uses an expression meaning - "Do not worry, it is still early."
Medina: (SLOW) Usijali, bado ni mapema. (REGULAR) Usijali, bado ni mapema.

James: Use this expression to show you are feeling optimistic.
James: Her high school friend, Asha, uses an expression meaning - "Be it sunny or cold, I am okay."

James: Use this expression to be content.
James: Then Amina uses an expression meaning - "I've worn a lot of clothes hoping it would be sunny."

James: Her husband's high school friend, Zainabu, uses an expression meaning - "I am sure the sun will be there in the afternoon."
