James: Must-Know Swahili Social Media Phrases Season 1. Lesson 22 - At a Birthday Party.
James: Hi everyone, I'm James.
Medina: And I'm Medina.
James: In this lesson, you'll learn how to post and leave comments in Swahili about birthday greetings. Amina goes to her birthday party, posts an image of it, and leaves this comment:
Medina: Nafurahia sana leo ni siku yangu ya kuzaliwa.
James: meaning - "I am so happy, it is my birthday." Listen to a reading of the post and the comments that follow.

Amina: Nafurahia sana leo ni siku yangu ya kuzaliwa.

Abdulahi: Hongera mke wangu. Najua itakuwa siku ya furaha tele.
Juma: Nitakuja sherehe yako kama kuna pombe.
Musa: Sherehe ya siku ya kuzaliwa ni ya watoto.
Zainabu: Najua utaniwekea keki yangu.

James: In response, Amina's friends leave some comments.
James: Her husband, Abdulahi, uses an expression meaning - "Congrats, my wife. I am sure it will be a happy day."
