James: Must-Know Swahili Social Media Phrases Season 1. Lesson 9 - Talking About an Injury.
James: Hi everyone, I'm James.
Medina: And I'm Medina.
James: In this lesson, you'll learn how to post and leave comments in Swahili about being injured. Abdulahi suffers a painful injury, posts an image of it, and leaves this comment:
Medina: Nimeumia sana kwa goti langu.
James: meaning - "I have hurt my knee." Listen to a reading of the post and the comments that follow.
DIALOGUE
(clicking sound)
Abdulahi: Nimeumia sana kwa goti langu.
(clicking sound)
Amina: Pole sana mume wangu. Utasikia nafuu.
Juma: Ulikuwa ukifanya nini?
Abdulahi: Sitajaribu tena kufanya mazoezi kwa nyumba.
Musa: Ninajua mazoezi ndani ya nyumba ni ya watu wa mjini.
James: Listen again with the English translation.

James: "I will never try to do a home workout again."
Musa: Ninajua mazoezi ndani ya nyumba ni ya watu wa mjini.
James: "I knew home workouts were meant for city guys."

James: All together, "I have hurt my knee."
Medina: Nimeumia sana kwa goti langu.
COMMENTS
James: In response, Abdulahi's friends leave some comments.
James: His wife, Amina, uses an expression meaning - "I'm so sorry, my husband. You will feel alright."
Medina: (SLOW) Pole sana mume wangu. Utasikia nafuu. (REGULAR) Pole sana mume wangu. Utasikia nafuu.

James: Use this expression to show you are feeling sensitive.
James: His college friend, Juma, uses an expression meaning - "What were you doing?"
