Chigusa: Okay, let's get into the language learning strategies... |
Peter: Number one - try harder lessons to improve faster. |
Chigusa: So, listeners, if you are wondering “why try a harder lesson?” |
Peter: Then think about the gym... it's a lot like working out. If you want to get bigger and stronger... |
Chigusa: ...You’ll need heavier weights. |
Peter: Exactly. |
Chigusa: But Peter, what if you’re listening to a harder conversation and don’t understand anything? |
Peter: You will. Our teachers break down the conversation in every lesson and we translate every word. |
Chigusa: You also get the translations and explanations right there on the lesson page... |
Peter: ...and you get them with our lesson notes, transcripts and dialogue study tools. |
Chigusa: So imagine understanding a conversation that’s above your level. |
Peter: That’s some serious progress. Definitely a great way to learn fast. |
Chigusa: Number two - put your learning on autopilot |
Peter: So, Imagine you have a bunch of learning apps and textbooks... all those icons on your home screen. All those books piled on a table. |
Chigusa: Peter... Where would you even start? |
Peter: That’s a great question, Chigusa. You can’t start. So most learners get stuck here. Wondering where to start, what do I do, and how do I continue. |
Chigusa: Yeah, I agree. |
Peter: Here’s an example. If you’re learning with a textbook, it’s straightforward, right? |
Chigusa: Right, you just follow the pages from page 1 to 2, to 3... until you’re done. |
Peter: Exactly. You follow the pages. You know what to do. What to do next. You don’t have to think about anything other than learning a language. |
Chigusa: But, how can you apply this “autopilot learning” to our program? |
Peter: So, with our Progress Tracking Dashboard, once you’ve chosen your learning level... |
Chigusa: Ah yes, we give you a recommended lesson pathway and FEED you lessons one by one. |
Peter: Exactly. So it’s like learning on autopilot. The Dashboard gives you the lessons to take, from #1 to #2 to #3. |
Chigusa: All you have to do is follow it... until you’re done. |
Peter: No worrying about where to start and what to do next. |
Chigusa: Okay, Number three- Read lines from the lesson dialogue out loud, slowly. |
Peter: Then re-read and increase your speed. This tactic is powerful for two reasons. |
Chigusa: So you can read faster? |
Peter: Exactly. And you can speak faster, Chigusa. Think about it, If you’re reading out loud... |
Chigusa: It’s almost like you’re speaking. |
Peter: This trains you to speak, and speak faster in general. |
Chigusa: Right. That’s something most beginners struggle with. |
Peter: So listeners, if you’re struggling with speaking or reading... |
Chigusa: ...try this strategy right now. |
Peter: With every lesson, you get a conversation. Read the dialogue with the Line by Line Dialogue. |
Chigusa: Read out loud slowly once... |
Peter: ...then re-read a bit faster, then again, and keep increasing your speed... |
Chigusa: ...until you can say the lines comfortably and sound like a native. |
Peter: And native speakers DO notice if you can speak and respond quickly. |
Chigusa: Definitely. It’s a sign that you understand them, that you’re confident... |
Peter: ...and that they don’t have to treat you like a beginner. |
Chigusa: Number four- Review old lessons to master them completely. |
Peter: Listeners, reviewing is where the actual learning takes place. |
Chigusa: Right. If you come across a new word, you won’t remember it if you only see it once. |
Peter: But imagine reading a book. You see a new word. So, you look up the meaning. And then, you start seeing that word on every other page. I guarantee, you will never forget that word. Your brain gets used to it... simply through repetition. |
Chigusa: So listeners, for example, if you try our listening comprehension lessons... |
Peter: ...and you only understand about 40%, review the lesson a few times. |
Chigusa: You have the translations right in front of you. |
Peter: The answers are right there. |
Chigusa: And by the third or fourth try, you’ll understand it 100%. |
Peter: It’s like that quote says - Repetition is the mother of all learning. |
Chigusa: Number 5 - Download the dialog tracks and listen to the conversations. |
Peter: Listeners, this is a super popular immersion tactic. |
Chigusa: Here’s how it works. When you’re done with a lesson, download the dialog track. |
Peter: With this, you get JUST the conversation – in your target language. |
Chigusa: Then, make a playlist of the dialog tracks. Each track is usually about 10 to 30 seconds long. |
Peter: Download them to your device and play them on repeat. That’s it. |
Chigusa: Yeah, it’s like listening to music on repeat. It gets drilled into your head... |
Peter: ...except here, you’re immersing yourself in conversations.. |
Chigusa: Your listening skills will improve, and you’ll understand every conversation! |
Peter: Listeners, let us know what your favorite learning strategies are. |
Chigusa: Exactly. If you want something, go after it. So, leave a comment. And remember. |
Peter: And remember… |
Chigusa: If you want to finally master your language with fast, easy lessons... |
