INTRODUCTION
In this lesson we're going to take a trip to the post office. The post office in Kenya is called
posta
(slow) posta
posta
Its sign is red and blue, and normally the word posta is written in white on the red part of the sign. Every post box bears these features.
In this lesson, you’re going to work on sending your postcards, letters, and packages home. The expression we need to accomplish this is, "I'd like to send this to..." and then the desired destination. For this lesson, we'll use Italy.
BODY
In Swahili, “I would like to send this to Italy" is
Ningelipenda kutuma hii Italia.
Let’s break it down:

Ningelipenda kutuma postkadi hii Italia.
Now let’s try “letter”, which in Swahili is
barua
(slow) barua

By substituting this into the first sentence, we can get
“I would like to send this letter to Italy”
(slow) Ningelipenda kutuma barua hii Italia.
Ningelipenda kutuma barua hii Italia.
Now let’s try to send a package. In Swahili, “I would like to send this package to Italy” is

“Package” in Swahili is kifurushi.
(slow) kifurushi
